Northern Ireland's Scenic North Coast is easily accessible from Carraig Lodge self-catering accommodation in Castlerock. The North Coast area is noted for its outstanding natural beauty and within the Castlerock area there are many scenic walks to enjoy and National Trust sites to explore.
You will find Castlerock's unspoilt beach, the River Bann's Barmouth, Hezlett House, Mussenden and Downhill Demesne all within walking distance. Avish, within the local designated area of outstanding natural beauty is minutes away by car. Dunluce Castle, The Giant's Causeway, Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge, Whitepark Bay, Bushmills Distillery, the coastal towns of Portrush and Portstewart (and beautiful Portstewart Strand) are all within easy reach. The Foyle ferry at Magilligan, crossing to Greencastle, Co Donegal, is approximately 15 minutes drive away. You could take a day trip to Rathlin Island and enjoy its natural beauty.
Take a ferry across the Sea of Moyle to Rathlin Island and explore its rugged landscape, admire the magnificent views and visit the RSPB Seabird Centre.
Anyone wanting a golfing holiday will be spoilt for choice which includes Castlerock Championship Golf Course, Royal Portrush, Roe Valley Park Golf Club, Bushfoot Golf Club, Kilrea Golf Club and Portstewart Golf Club. Local golfing events include Castlerock Golf Club Open Week and 2009 North Coast Links Tournament.
There is a range of shops and pubs in the area all close to our self-catering accommodation in Castlerock or, for a wide range of shops, a 10 minute drive will take you to Coleraine. If you want to leave the car behind, there is a railway station a short walk away as well as bus links to neighbouring towns.
Crusoes highly acclaimed Castlerock coffee shop on Sea Road is always popular with locals and visitors alike. There are other local eateries to try too or travel further along the coast to some ever popular venues.
